Radioplayer goes mobile with iPhone App

26/10/2012

Radioplayer, a unique partnership between BBC and commercial radio, has launched a new online Radioplayer application, earlier this month and has since received much media attention in the UK.

Radioplayer is the first industry-backed app offering listeners access to the entire UK radio network from one place, on a mobile device. The new mobile app was conceived by Radioplayer partners and built by All In Media.

The new free app offers a fluid, intuitive and simple user experience, with all the benefits of Radioplayer’s online platform. Its features include an innovative ‘station scroller,’ a powerful search engine to access live and catch-up radio, plus the ability for users to set up their favourite stations, browse trending stations, programs and segments, and share content they are listening to via social media. More than 400 licensed national, local, community and student radio stations will be available through the service, where users can also search content by subject, musical style, or even song title.

The app is designed to complement existing station branded apps and aims to help boost the popularity of digital radio listening. It represents a step towards future radio interfaces – simple and engaging.

Radioplayer is available in the Apple app store and will soon be available on Android phones via Google Play Store for those with a UK based account.
