ATP Innovations is delighted to host an evening with Irene Au – a former head of design teams for Google and Yahoo, currently an operating partner at Khosla Ventures where she works with CEOs of startups in the portfolio to help make the designs of their companies successful.
Irene will be visiting Sydney as one of the keynote speakers for Agile Australia Conference 2015.
During her work at Google and Yahoo, Irene has been one of the biggest employers of UX talent. She built Yahoo’s user-centered design practice from scratch, grew it to an organization of 150 people, and led it for 8 years. She scaled Google’s user experience team from 60 to 250 worldwide and led UX for all of Google’s products and services for 6 years. Irene has also led design at Udacity and Netscape.
Irene’s expertise lies in helping companies manage the strategic value of design with a focus on user research through better methods, practices, processes, leadership and quality. She drives strategic discussions at the highest levels of companies, focusing first on user needs to inspire product innovation.
Irene holds a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of South Carolina Honors College summa cum laude and a master’s of science degree in industrial engineering and human-computer interaction from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Irene also teaches yoga and meditation at Avalon Art and Yoga Center in Palo Alto, California.
