Cicada Innovations is Australia’s home for deep tech – unique, proprietary, hard to reproduce science-based innovations. Cicada creates and validates deep tech ventures through specialised commercialisation and accelerator programs that feed into the incubator where they are nurtured.
Our hyper connected community of 70+ companies and 400+ innovators reside in our state-of-the-art facilities located within the historic precinct in the Australian Technology Park.
The Cicada Innovations team has worked with more than 300 businesses, helping its portfolio companies raise over $324 million in private equity and government grants, file over 500 patents and trademarks, and for twelve, sell their business. In 2015-16 alone, Cicada Innovations’? portfolio companies raised over $79 AUD in private and public funding.
Globally recognised and awarded and founded in 2000, Cicada Innovations Incubator is a private business, owned by four of Australia’s leading universities: Australian National University, University of New South Wales, University of Sydney and University of Technology Sydney.
Like our portfolio companies, Cicadas emerge fully formed from their period of incubation and are equipped to take on the world.
Deep technologies are unique, differentiated, often protected or hard to reproduce, technological or scientific advances. These technologies are what create new industries, shake up the ones of old and change the world for future generations.
